Squish template thumbnail 3
A promotional thumbnail for the Squish Framer template featuring a clean layout and 3D crystal asset.

About
This is a promotional thumbnail for Squish, my Framer template available on the Framer Marketplace.
Clean layout. A 3D crystal asset as the focal point. Light, airy, a little tactile. The kind of thing that's supposed to stop a scroll and make someone think: I want to build something with that.
What I Find Inspiring About This
Nobody talks about thumbnail design as a discipline. But on the Framer Marketplace — or really anywhere templates are sold — the thumbnail is the product. It's the only thing a potential buyer sees before deciding whether to click.
That's a genuinely strange design problem. You're not designing a layout for someone to use. You're designing a representation of a layout that has to communicate feel, quality, and use case in about half a second.
The 3D crystal here isn't decorative. It's doing a specific job — giving the thumbnail depth and tactility that a flat screenshot can't. Something about a physical-feeling object against a clean grid signals a certain level of craft. Whether that's rational or not, it works.
I think about Framer Marketplace thumbnails a bit like book cover design. The content matters, but the cover is what sells it. Getting that right is its own skill, separate from building the template itself — and one I find myself thinking about more and more.
